WHY IS IT WORTH CHOOSING CERAMIC TILES?

For tiles to serve more than a few years, carefully make the purchase and always check whether they are glazed. If so, ask the salesperson for a glaze category of resistance to mechanical wear, which is also known as the PEI index. This will help you to understand the suitability of tiles for a certain type of room.

Based on their resistance to wear, or else PEI index, tiles are grouped and recommended for:

  • PEI 1 Bathroom or bedroom floor, walls, if there is no direct access from the outside. Where one wears soft footwear or walks barefoot, and there is no scratching dirt.
  • PEI 2 Where one wears soft or normal footwear, and there is a random amount of scratching dirt.
  • PEI 3 Kitchens, halls, hallways, balconies and terraces. Where one wears normal footwear, and there is a small amount of scratching dirt. It is not applied to unusual footwear, such as bovver boots.
  • PEI 4 Hallway, kitchen and hall floors. Regularly walked on.
  • PEI 5 School and shop floors. In the premises of public use.

Floor tile wear in flats is not so relevant. The most important thing here is size and aesthetic qualities of tiles.

For industrial, commercial or other public premises with predicted large flow of people, choose stone floor tiles with a higher resistance to wear, such as Aveniu, Metropolis, Elegija, Fazenda.

It is only stone tiles that are recommended for open terraces.
