DO THE TILING YOURSELF!
A variety of mixes, grouts (normally made on cement basis) or adhesives are used for tiling. Different kinds of adhesives are manufactured for each type of tiles. There are universal adhesives, but it is recommended to use special ones.
When choosing adhesives, pay attention:
- If adhesives firmly „bind" the surfaces,
- If adhesion is possible both on horizontal and vertical surfaces,
- If adhesives are intended for the inside or the outside (there are universal ones),
- If they are waterproof and resistant to cold,
- To the speed of solidification,
- And if they are suitable for heated floors.
Select adhesive grouts with increased adhesion and elasticity when tiling on rigid wooden waterproof surfaces or simply on the existing ceramic tiles. Add elastic emulsion to the adhesive grout.
Remember to purchase special liquid for washing tools. Although they can be immediately washed with water, it will definitely be impossible to remove grout residue without a liquid of particular concentration after using structural grout.
Comment of an expert: Before purchasing the adhesive or other type of mix, make sure that you consult a shop assistant. Different kinds of tiles are glued with different types of mix or adhesives. Thus, having purchased the tiles, look for the suitable adhesive (that would correspond to tiles and prepared base).
